Geisinger Taps Cohere Health to Streamline Prior Authorizations
GHP provides coverage to more than half a million members throughout Pennsylvania and boasts a network of more than 30,000 primary and specialty care physicians. GHP will utilize Cohere's AI-driven and machine learning technology to accelerate patient access to high-quality care while streamlining prior authorization. Cohere's digital platform creates episode-specific care paths based on the member's utilization history and individual care needs, in addition to historic results for a specific patient population. Fully transparent, evidence-based suggestions prompt providers to select high-value care options before requests are submitted, reducing peer-to-peer clinical reviews and denials. Initial clinical improvement programs will focus on increasing patient access to conservative and home-based treatments.

After the buzz, AI finding its place in health care
READY FOR ITS CLOSE-UP: Artificial intelligence has long been hyped as a game changer in health care: Remember this 2012 prediction that computers will replace 80 percent of doctors? But it's been much harder to get a sense of the real-world scale of the phenomenon. Is AI a perpetual technology of the future? Or is it starting to get a toehold? LeanTaaS raises $40 million to optimize health clinic operations with AI
Long wait times for patients can be the undoing of a large clinic or a hospital system. According to a recent survey, 84% of patients consider a reasonable wait somewhat or very important to a quality experience, and 30% say they've left a medical appointment because of an inordinately long wait. And a whopping 20% of patients say they'd consider changing providers due to wait times alone. That's why Mohan Giridharadas, a Stanford graduate and former McKinsey and Company partner, founded Charlotte, North Carolina- and Santa Clara-based LeanTaaS. It's a predictive analytics company that taps data science to "radically" improve health care provider performance, using cloud-based solutions to solve problems like resource utilization.
